2006 Trek Madone SSL 6.9
With a non-sloping top tube and full carbon frame weighing under 900 grams, the Madone SSL 6.9 is exactly what you need to run up to the grocery store or do a few errands at a leisurely pace.
Seriously, though, Trek's range-topping full carbon roadie boasts all the bling you could possibly want, including 10-speed Dura-Ace groupset, with a Bontrager XXX Lite wheelset.

Our friends at Trek say:
"A Tour de France and Giro d'Italia winner. Standard issue for Team Discovery - if you can call OCLV 110 carbon frame and fork standard issue!"
And we think it's fair to assume that if anyone from Bikely-Central hopped on board, this delightful tapestry of carbon could again prove that it's a Tour de France winner.

“The responsiveness of the frame is outstanding, as others have noted. I have the first Armstrong Tour winning Trek as well, and this bike is way faster up a slope: it's just night and day. Of course, it's considerably lighter as well.
Like others, I'd also recommend ditching the Bontrager seat, which is uncomfortable and gave me saddle sores for the first time in two decades of riding. But I expect they have swapped that out on the new Madone.

“Unbelievable acceleration and climbing; superb ride. My only complaint is the quality of the paint finish, but that does not slow this thing down!”

“This is for the Trek 2007 5.5 Madone which is the same frame and DA setup but with the race lite wheels.
This bike is a stiff as my Cannondale CAAD 3 but WAAAAAAAY more comfortable especially once you remove the POS Bontrager seat.
The accelleration of this bike is staggering weather up hill or in a flat sprint it is a sear joy.
I race primarily crits and this thing cuts a corner like it is on rails and is a comfortable at the front of the pack as it is accerating out of it.
I tested many bikes as I could never get over the Cannondale feeling of responsiveness but The 5.5 is everything and more than the 'Dale. ”

“Great ride. It's a great climber, its illegally light, ultra stiff and amazingly responsive.
Paint finish is questionable on a frame at this price level though - At this money you expect perfection, it's way way short of that.

“The price included an extra set of Bontrager Race X Lite wheels with Vredestein Fortezza tires.
Just a Note: The SSL is OCLV 55 carbon.”
