Brief Off-Alignment Detour
Route 40 used to cross I-70 and run south of the highway. The northern frontage road is the best way to reunite with that alignment.

Route 40 used to cross the Missouri River on a bridge at the foot of Clark Street. That bridge was demolished years ago.
I-70
The only way to get across the Missouri River is to use the I-70 Bridge - which is not legal for pedestrians. I advise using a taxi to cross the river.
