The way points of this bicycle route:
Route 40 used to cross I-70 and run along what is now County Road 142.
Route 40 used to cross I-70 and run south of the highway. The northern frontage road is the best way to reunite with that alignment.
Route 40 used to cross I-70 at this point.
A lack of frontage roads necessitates this detour on Mexico Road.
Route 40 used to cross the Missouri River on a bridge at the foot of Clark Street. That bridge was demolished years ago.
The only way to get across the Missouri River is to use the I-70 Bridge - which is not legal for pedestrians. I advise using a taxi to cross the river.
It is nearly impossible to follow the exact route of the Route 40 Bypass, but these roads will approximate the route.
