Cumulative Distance Where Notes Direction Elevation
0km 0km Start Vinman's bakery, at the corner of Walnut and University Way is a good place to get a snack. Trust me, you'll burn it off on this ride. S 180° 479m
0.3km 0.3km 5th Ave. Turn right. W 265° 475m
1.8km 1.5km Railroad Ave/ Anderson Road I like Railroad Ave/Anderson Road as a good way to "get out of Dodge." Turn left. S 180° 458m

4.7km 1.1km Brown Road Turn right. SW 208° 466m

17km 1.9km Thorp Highway Turn left. WNW 288° 505m
19.2km 2.2km Thorp Cemetery Road Turn left. NNW 322° 513m
22km 2.8km Thorp Cemetery Road You parallel I-90 for a couple of miles here. Feel sorry for the highway lumps trapped in their exoskeletons. NW 296° 530m
26.8km 4.8km Entrance to Tanuem canyon Decisions, decisions! There's 10 miles of pavement in Taneum canyon beyond this point up to the Taneum junction campground, and it is a stunningly beautiful ride. One caution: two miles up the canyon the road goes from county maintenance to forest service maintenance and it has an impressive pothole/mile statistic (summer 2008). Pay attention, particularly on a fast descent of the canyon. Turn right on Taneum Canyon Road, and cross the interstate on an overpass to continue on this route. NE 45° 575m
27km 0.3km Thorp Prairie Road Feeling like some climbing? Head up Thorp Prairie Road over Indian John Hill. You can continue on Peoh Point Road and eventually into Cle Elum. Straight ahead to continue on this route. ESE 100° 579m
31.3km 4.3km Thorp Highway A left turn here, takes you across Dudley bridge and up a hill to highway 10 where you can head back to Ellensburg or toward Cle Elum on beautiful Highway 10. Turn right on Thorp Highway to continue on this route. ESE 112° 503m
33km 1.7km Thorp Highway Stay on Thorp Highway as it jogs left and then right through the town of Thorp. E 80° 497m
33.9km 0.9km I-90 The Thorp fruit barn a short distance to the left down Gladmar Road is a reasonably good place to stop for a cold drink or a piece of fruit on a hot summer day! Straight ahead and cross interstate on overpass. S 180° 495m
39.6km 5.7km Golf Course Something there is that does not love a big honking truck pulling a trailer with a golf cart on it! SE 131° 490m
42.8km 3.1km Cascade Way Turn right. Watch carefully for heavy traffic that has exited the interstate. SE 135° 468m
42.9km 0.1km I-90 As always keep an eye out for velocitized and bleary interstate drivers at this busy interchange and its stores and gas stations. ESE 104° 470m
43.4km 0.6km Highway 97 Turn left. NNW 357° 468m
45.4km 2km Highway 97 - Dry Creek Connector Straight ahead across the highway. N 474m

47.4km 1.9km Reecer Creek Road Straight ahead. WSW 235° 475m
49.5km 2.2km Water Street Turn right. S 177° 482m
49.6km 0.1km 14th Ave Turn left. SSE 155° 481m
50.6km 0.9km CWU Campus - Walnut mall. Turn right. Be a nice bicyclist as you negotiate the Walnut mall on campus which typically has lots of pedestrians, some of whom are not paying much attention as they think about their most recent physics class! SE 115° 490m
51.3km 0.7km S 179° 479m
